The city administration of Multan, on Thursday, declined an application by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to grant permission for a public gathering planned, citing the rising spread of the coronavirus.

An application seeking permission to hold the jalsa, on November 30 at Qila Kohna Qasim Bagh Stadium in Multan, was filed by PPP leader Natasha Daultana. And turned down by Deputy Commissioner Amir Khattak.

According to the details, Khattak refused to allow opposition parties to hold the gathering while citing that Punjab government directives have banned any public gatherings of more than 300 guests until January 31 next year. The deputy commissioner also added that at least eight smart lockdowns have been imposed in the city to curb the COVID-19 outbreak.

PPP leader Ali Gillani gets bail in Multan:

A special magistrate in Multan released Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and son of former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani Syed Ali Musa Gillani on bail after he was arrested for violating COVID-19 restrictions.

Gillani was arrested while he was participating in a rally held outside the Chehliyak police station in Multan to protest against the arrest of members of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

Bilawal tests positive for COVID-19, asks masses to participate in political gathering:

The chairman of PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19. Bhutto said that his symptoms are mild and he has isolated himself at his residence. However, he asked party workers to participate in the upcoming gathering in Multan.

The PPP leader took to Twitter to share the news. In his tweet, he said:

"I have tested positive for COVID-19 & am self-isolating with mild symptoms. I‘ll continue working from home and will be addressing PPP foundation day via video link. Wear a mask everyone, see you on the other side IA."
