Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Thursday announced that China will be providing 500,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine to Pakistan by January 31.

The FM said that he held a conversation with Chinese FM Wang Yi and discussed Pakistan's requirements for the vaccine. While addressing the media, Qureshi said that the Chinese FM has said "you can send your airplane and immediately airlift the drug."

Shah Mehmood Qureshi also took to Twitter to share the news. In a tweet he said:

"Always great to speak to my friend, His Excellency FM Wang Yi. With encouraging results of the Chinese vaccine and our historic relationship, Pakistan has approved the emergency use authorization of SinoPharm. Indeed Pakistan greatly appreciates the 500,000 doses of the vaccine gifted by China."
