PML-N rejects govt's anti-state trend report, terms it 'misleading'

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership has rejected the report published by the government regarding the workers being part of the Indian media war.

Earlier this week National Security Adviser (NSA) Moeed Yusuf and Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry had unveiled the report in a press conference.

Addressing a press conference, Fawad Chaudhry had said that two years of data revealed that all anti-Pakistan trends on social media were started by Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) and was getting support from India.

Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, while addressing a press conference, said that political parties were called enemies of the state in every martial law era, now the so-called government is doing the same, adding the report released was prepared based on the assumptions.

He said the Canadian firm reveled in a statement given to Geo News programme that Canada-based company which the government had cited as the source of the data had confirmed that it had neither sold any data to Pakistan nor provided it in any capacity.

“This shows that the government in Pakistan either stole the data or made it up on its own,” he alleged.

"The names of several journalists have been included in this report and when the govt was asked for evidence, they said it was based on assumptions."

Shahid Khaqan said that the report showed Kashmir as part of India in the map of Asia and Middle East. He said did the ministers read the report, adding that the government had published the report just to accept Article 370.

He said that most of the politicians’ names were mentioned in the report issued by the government.

When it comes to corruption and incompetence, it becomes an issue of national security. “Is it a crime to speak out against inflation and government performance,” PML-N leader raised question.

Talking about the ban on journalists, he said such bans had been imposed even during the martial law periods. “The government is blaming that the journalists and politicians were traitors,” he said.

Abbasi said Pakistan is isolated due to government policies. The government's aim is to divert attention from the situation in the country. Reports, tweets and lies will not solve the problem. Such things are being said to divert attention from problems, he added.
