The trailer for Saba Qamar and Nauman Ijaz’s web series Mrs and Mr Shameem was released Wednesday and quickly created a storm on social media. Users can’t wait to watch the show that tells the story of “true love” and unpacks the concept of masculinity.

The series will premiere on March 11 on an Indian subscription based video on demand platform, Zee5.

Social media users praised both Qamar and Ijaz for their remarkable performances evident in the trailer.

Users lauded Ijaz for being such a versatile actor.

The two-and-a-half minute long trailer shows that Qamar’s character Ummi and Ijaz’s Shameem share an inseparable bond. The leads are not your conventional hero and heroine.

Ummi is a bold, outspoken woman, “a true wild child” as described by Qamar in an interview.

Shameem on the other hand is a soft-hearted, caring man. He has an effeminate mannerism that makes him a target of bullying . “He redefines the portrayal of how an ideal man or man of the house typically should be,” said Qamar.

“This looks so promising,” said one user.

Some people pointed out that the lack of platforms is depriving Pakistani audiences of quality content.

Many Pakistani web series are being premiered on Zee5 and what's ironic is that this Pakistani content is inaccessible in Pakistan as State Bank of Pakistan has ordered to block any kind of payment meant to get a subscription to access Zee5 content in the country.

The first original series from Pakistan that aired on Zee5 was Asim Abbasi's Churails.

“Our writers and directors can do wonders, only if given a platform!” tweeted Uzair Surhio.

One user said Mrs and Mr Shameem is the kind of content that’s needed on mainstream media.
