Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan Niazi Thursday resigned from his office.

Aaj News citing sources reported that Niazi has sent his resignation to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and President Dr. Arif Alvi.

It may be recalled that Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi had met Khan Niazi at his Bani Gala residence on Wednesday and exposed the conspiracy hatched against him in AJK.

Earlier in the day, Niazi terminated five members of his cabinet including Tanveer Ilyas, Abdul Majid Khan, Ali Shan, Khawaja Farooq and Chaudhry Muhammad Akbar over misconduct and suspicious activities.

On April 12, PTI lawmakers submitted the motion against their party’s prime minister in the AJK assembly secretariat.

The motion was signed by 25 members of the legislative assembly and senior Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has been proposed as successor. The name of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas has been recommended for the PM slot in the no-trust move.
