Heavy rain lashes out in parts of Karachi, as Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast heavy rainfall in Karachi.

Several areas including Airport Road, Gulshan-e-Hadid, Malir, and Super Highway received heavy rainfall.

While intermittent showers with heavy bursts in between have been reported in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Hassan Square, Bahadurabad, Jail Road and Shahra-e-Faisal.

The Met Office has forecast heavy rainfall in the city today. According to PMD the recent system will continue till July 9 (tomorrow).

City administrator, Murtaza Wahab tweeted earlier today at 4:32am that Karachi’s rain situation was under control.

“Major arteries were clear & the drains have so far catered well to the situation. Traffic of super highway which was affected due to the overflow of Lath Dam has also been normalised from both sides.”

The Karachi-Hyderabad Super Highway had been flooded due to the Lath Dam overflow yesterday.

While some of the residents of Karachi enjoy the rain after a sweltering heatwave for months, most of them worry about the dreadful aftermath the rain leaves behind.
