The procession of the proscribed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan continued their march from Kamoki to Gujranwala City as their protest entered the seventh day on Thursday, Aaj News reported.

Quoting sources, Aaj News said security forces planned to intercept TLP protesters at Wazirabad and near River Chanab.

According to the report, educational institutions and business and industrial centres in the vicinity of G T Road have been closed, while the flow of traffic has been badly disrupted.

As per the announcement of Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed on Wednesday, Rangers have been deployed in Punjab for 60 days to maintain law and order in the province. The forces, including the police, took charge of security at the border of River Chanab and Wazirabad.

The report further said the government had removed barriers placed on Kamoki, Aimanabad, Chanda Qila, interior city, Rahwali and GT Road, while the security personnel could not be seen at Gakhar Mandi and Wazirabad Chowk.

Last night, the participants of the march stayed at Kamoki as they planned to proceed towards Islamabad through GT Road.

The report said mobile and internet services in the vicinity of G T Road and nearby areas were badly affected.

On Wednesday, at least four policemen were martyred and over 250 others were injured as thousands of workers of the proscribed TLP clashed with law-enforcement personnel near Sadhoke in Gujranwala district.
