Berating the opposition for their attempt to dislodge the government, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday that he was all set to face the no-confidence motion in parliament and warned of consequences if such an attempt got failed.

“Who are these people trying to bring a no-trust move in parliament?” he said while addressing a public gathering in Melsi of Vehari district in South Punjab.

The premier slammed the opposition parties’ leaders – including Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari, Shehbaz Sharif, and Fazlur Rehman – for damaging the country. According to PM Imran, such leaders were the reason for the country’s main issues – including drone strikes and loans.

“These thugs have been looting this country for the past 35 years. They have made a wealthy nation poor,” he said, “The nation continues to remain in the same state when such thugs unite to plunder the resources and take turns to do so.”

PM Imran said: “Former PM Nawaz Sharif had been convicted by the Supreme Court and now he has been an absconder sitting abroad. With his ‘Bollywood acting’ and requests regarding his health issues, he went abroad. Can a timid can be a leader who had fled the country twice!”

He accused PDM head Maulana Fazlur Rehman of using Madressha students for protests and changing their mindset.

He further advised Leader of Opposition Shehbaz Sharif that time has changed and his apparent attempts to woo the establishment would not work in current times.

Message to foreign envoys

PM Imran also spoke about the foreign envoys' letter to Pakistan, in which, they asked the country to condemn Russian actions in Ukraine.

“Did you appreciate us in the war on terror? We lost 80,000 people and the war cost us more than $100 billion in losses,” he said, adding that the West did not even acknowledge the country’s efforts in Afghanistan but blamed it for the loss.

Premier Imran questioned the foreign envoys' apparent silence on Indian actions in the Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He wondered whether such nations halted their ties and trade with India when the country abolished the special status of the occupied region.

“Are we your servants that we will do whatever you say,” he said and blamed Zardari and Nawaz for such a state of the country where the government apparently had to “obey” others. He was of the view that the leaders adhered to the request because they were afraid of their “money being blocked” in offshore accounts.

He announced that he will ask the Pakistan Air Force to down any drone if it tried to infiltrate the country’s airspace. Moreover, he expressed hope for working with world nations to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict. “We will not take sides in wars and support everyone in peace.”

The premier also asked the media to fulfil its “responsibility” by not giving prominence to absconders or looters in an apparent reference to Nawaz.

South Punjab

PM Imran also announced the government’s decision to further invest Rs500 billion for South Punjab’s development and tabling a Constitutional amendment in the National Assembly for a demand of a separate province for South Punjab.

“PPP and PML-N have long been voicing for the cause but now we will see whether they support it or not,” he said.

The premier further announced that the government has imported 100,000 tons of urea from China.

“The day when I bring Nawaz Sharif’s money back I will decrease the petrol and diesel prices by half,” PM Imran said.
