Balochistan bureaucrat jailed for seven years, fined Rs630 million

Accountability court orders seizure of multiple properties and land owned by Ali Gul Kurd, the ex-director of Pasni Fish Harbour, over corruption

QUETTA: An accountability court has sentenced the former managing director of the Pasni Fish Harbour to seven years in prison and fined him Rs630 million in a case pertaining to assets beyond known sources of income.

Accountability Court judge Aftab Ahmed Lone also ordered the seizure of various properties of Ali Gul Kurd, who had also served as the director of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority as well as the director of the sports department of the government of Balochistan.

The properties include commercial plazas located on prime properties in Quetta and Mastung as well as several acres in the two major cities of Balochistan.

The National Accountability Bureau had filed the mega corruption reference against the serving bureaucrat, accusing him of embezzling millions.

Kurd had joined the government service as a grade 17 officer.
