Punjab’s 20 by-elections are just around the corner, scheduled on July 17. Currently, 175 seats are occupied by the government while 173 are occupied by the opposition. The winning party needs to secure 186 seats to appoint the Chief Minister.

The Punjab by-elections have become a matter of political survival for the PML-N and PTI. Political campaigning and propaganda are in full swing.

PP-168

Punjab’s 20 by-elections will decide the next chief minister, but Lahore’s four by-elections are of extreme importance for the PML-N and PTI. PML-N workers look confident about the PP-168 elections.

PTI workers are also campaigning hard to win the seat. They claim that since they won the 2018 elections in this constituency, they’ll raise the flag of victory once again.

Nine candidates, including five independent candidates, are fighting for seats in the PP-168 by-election. The total number of registered voters in the constituency is 151,484, for which 96 polling stations will be set up.

PP-167

A fight broke out between PML-N and PTI workers during the by-election campaign in Lahore, with both sides attacking and opening fire at each other. Six people were injured in this confrontation.

PML-N and PTI workers came face to face during the by-election campaign in the PP-167 constituency of Lahore. The riot occurred near Allahu Chowk in Johar Town.

Former PTI MPA and current PML-N candidate, Nazir Chauhan, alleged that his car was attacked when he was on his way home. According to the police, Chauhan’s son was shot while the guard was injured with a baton. Chauhan’s son is now in hospital.

On the other hand, PTI candidate Shabbir Gujjar claimed that when workers stopped Chauhan, he drove over them. His son and four workers were injured. The wounded were shifted to Jinnah Hospital while a report has been filed at the Johar Town police station.
