Former finance minister Ishaq Dar recently made the news when Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said Dar has been offering help to the government in managing the current financial crisis.

While we were still deciding how we feel about the interior minister’s statement, journalist Mubashir Zaidi made his own observation about the economy.

Dar either missed the sarcasm entirely or decided to take the high road and retweeted Zaidi’s statement with the folded hands emoji, usually used to depict prayers or thanks.

The shade, however, was not lost on the Twitterati

Some had major bones to pick with his previous policies

Some were surprised that the original tweet was twisted like it was

Twitter users also took hits at Dar’s supporters

The bubble of the elite also came under scrutiny

Some told Zaidi his tweets are too smart

Others thought Dar wasn’t smart

While some just wondered if Dar’s tweet was misintrepreted

There was also some support for the finance minister
