SC forms five benches for next week

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan, Anwar Zaheer Jamali has constituted five benches at the principal seat to hear a number of important cases during the next week, starting from Monday.

The first bench comprising Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan while the second bench consists of Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Tariq Pervaiz.

The third bench would consist of Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Dost Muhammad Khan and Justice Maqbool Baqar and the fourth bench would consist of Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rahman.

The fifth bench would comprise Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain.

The formation of benches would change on Thursday (September 29) as the first bench would comprise Chief Justice
Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan.

The second bench would consist of Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and Justice Mushir Alam and the third bench would comprise Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa and Justice Maqbool Baqar.

The fourt bench would comprise Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rahman and the fifth bench consist of Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain.

During the week the benches would hear important cases including trademark and patent registration case of Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) Karachi, Orangeline metro train project case, contempt of court cases, cases against execution of death sentence, local bodies election matters, suo moto action to examine the vires of section 25 (a) of NAB Ordinance 1999, suo moto action regarding eligibility of Chairman and members of Sindh Public Service Commission, Federation of Pakistan through Secretary Natinal Food Security & Research v. Animal
& Meat Importer & Exporter Association of Pakistan, Islamabad and appeals against death sentences.

According to cause lists, no adjournment on any ground will be granted and no application for adjournment through
fax will be placed before the Court. Furthermore, if the counsel is unable to appear for any reason, the  Advocate-on-Record will be required to argue the case. -APP
