Eid shopping picks up

LAHORE,Sep: Eid shopping is gaining momentum as rush of people is seen at all the markets and bazaars of the provincial capital.

As shopping picks up, traffic jam in the city's busy market places and intersections, particularly in front of shopping centers including Anarkali, Mall Road, Liberty Market, Firdous Market, Mini Market, Shah Alam Market and other shopping ares has become a routine.

Nowadays,main focus of the citizens is on the purchase of ready made clothes, footwear and accessories.

Salmaa housewife said that prices of different varieties of clothes have registered a sharp rise although the shops are displaying a large variety of garments.

Customers claimed that the prices of dress materials particularly for women and children have sharply increased.

Irfan Ali a buyer said,"Everyone wants to celebrate Eid befittingly,and maximum arrangements are made in this regard". He said as Eid is closeby they were purchasing various items and gifts for for family members,friends,and relatives.

The shopkeepers expressed that it is the best time to make money. They were happy that the number of shoppers was increasing day by day.

Meanwhile,police claimed to have made foolproof security arrangements for the protection of the people at various shopping centers,markets and public places.To ensure security of women and children lady police have also been deployed at busy shopping areas.
