US delivers protective equipment to Frontier Corps
U.S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker delivered 2,650 units of bullet-proof helmets to Major General Muhammad Alam Khattak, Inspector General Frontier Corps NWFP on Tuesday, to help protect Frontier Corps' personnel in their vital mission to make Pakistan's border areas more secure.
The equipment delivered on Tuesday is part of the U.S. Government's ongoing border security program, which has already provided Frontier Corps NWFP $20 million worth of commodities, as well as $2.8 million for the construction of border outposts.
Most of the funding the U.S. Government is providing to the Frontier Corps NWFP is being used to procure vehicles, communication equipment and surveillance equipment to help equip the Corps for battle against insurgency that continues to increase its own capability.
In the next few months, the U.S. Embassy will additionally deliver to Frontier Corps NWFP over 150 vehicles, $1.3 million of communication and surveillance equipment, as well as force protective equipment, such as 420 units of bullet proof vests.
