Civil Defence volunteers rescued flood effected people

RAWALPINDI: The Deputy Civil Defence Officer Rawalpindi Miss Sanjeeda Khannum has said that Civil Defence Volunteers played active role during flood situation  in low lying areas.

The areas which were affected by the flood included Javed Colony, Nadeem Colony, Aria Mohallah, Chaman Zar Colony and other localities along Lai Nullah.

The official said 'Sirons' were blown when water level in Lai Nullah rose up to the danger level and Civil Defence teams were actively vacated the people from their houses and shifted them to safe places.

Sanjeeda stated that DCO, Rawalpindi Sajad Zafar Daal himself remained at the site near Tipu Road and monitored the working of departments concerned.

Defence also informed that groups of Civil Defence volunteers who had vast experience to render their services during such emergencies, rushed to the places where people were surrounded by water and they helped the families to shift the safer places.
